Yeah, I said NO!!!
If you know me then you already know its super hard for me to say no. I have got into a lot of unnecessary situations because I didn’t know how to say NO. I feel like when I say no I am letting people down.
But that’s not the case at all!
Saying No is not a bad thing and sometimes it’s necessary. It has been several times when I have had that gut feeling and wanted to say no, but I didn’t want anyone to be upset with me, so I said Yes. And let me tell you it never ends well. I believe sometimes God present situations to us just to see if we would say No.
Over the last year I have been trying to use the word No more often! Saying no doesn’t make you a bad person it just means that either right now is a bad time or simply you just don’t want to do it. I am learning daily that you don’t have to have a reason to say no.
People have to respect your no and keep it moving.
Growing up I always wanted to feel accepted and wanted people to like me, so every time people asked me something I would always say yes, even if I didn’t want to do it. The thing is if people realize you can’t say no they tend to take advantage of you. People will ask you to do things they won’t ask anyone else to do because they know you will say yes.
To say No I had to grow a backbone.
I am still working on perfecting my No, but what I have realized is when you start to say no you lose friends, people start calling less and honestly you have a lot more free time. The more I say no the more I realize who my real friends are. Because some people only call or come around when it benefits them.
Sometimes it’s not just friends, but family can be the same way. Let's keep it real, family can sometimes be worse than friends. I dare you to start saying no to family and friends and watch how your circle dwindle down.
In life you must learn to say No even if you don’t want to!
I’ll give you an example of saying no when you don't want to; Okay, I like to hang out with my friends when I make trips to Virgina, but I am in school and sometimes when I come in town I have homework to do. So, when my friends or my boo (when I have one lol) want to hangout I have to say no! Even though I wanted to go out, and I know I would have had a great time, I must make sure prioritize things. That’s just a small example, but the reward of saying no will have a greater outcome than hanging out for the night.
Sometimes a No is necessary
No matter if you have a reason or you just don’t want to do something learn to say NO and stand firm on your NO and if people can’t respect your NO then you need to weed them from your garden!
