Life is like driving a car with a blindfold on. You never know what’s going to happen next, because life is so unpredictable. With all the ups and downs that life gives it's only a matter of time before you hit a wall. Everyone goes through rough patches, but how you handle these phases of life is what matters.
Sometimes life just seem like it's going down, and you can't see the light. Like you catch yourself saying "Lord when will I get a break". Then it seems like things just get worse. But I am here to say that when you keep fighting there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
But Sometimes in life we stop fighting and give up right before the breakthrough.
When times get tough instead of putting on boxing gloves and throwing punches, we tend to put on running shoes and run away. When you want something in life you have to fight for it. It's not going to be easy and things are going to go wrong. But when things get hard and you’re at a low point in life, you will learn quickly that you can't do anything without Jesus!
See the thing is when things seem hard, we start changing the plan instead of pushing and fighting. Let me give you a personal example, When I went to college my dream was to be a television host. I wanted to be in front of the camera. But I was constantly told because of my weight and the fact that I have darker brown skin that it would be hard for me to get a job in the industry. People would say things like "maybe you can be a producer or work behind the scenes, because you will have a better chance of getting a job in the industry." Trying to ignore the negativity, I auditioned to be an anchor at Savannah State’s student run news station. I didn’t get the position, but they told me I should write for the school Newspaper or help produce the news cast and I knew my weight had a lot to do with it.
So, Instead of Fighting, I changed my plan...
I decided I would just stick to writing. Don’t get me wrong I love to write, and I have always planned to write books, but because I got turned down and everyone in the industry told me I was too big and too dark to be an anchor I changed my plan.. Not because God had another plan for me, but because I felt defeated. I gave up on part of my dream. What I should have done was keep pushing and prove them wrong.
But the thing about God is, he will always give up another chance!
I transferred to Valdosta State University two semesters later, and VSU also had a student run news station. It was actually bigger and better equipment than Savannah State. When I saw the studio, I felt like this was God giving me a second chance, and this time I was going to fight for what I wanted. When you continue to push and fight you get results! God will give you the desires of your heart if you trust him!
I proved everyone wrong!
I got to anchor and produce my own script for News Valdosta, and this wasn’t just a college station. News Valdosta is the only news station in the City of Valdosta, it reaches over twenty thousand households and it’s a CNN affiliate. Now imagine if I wouldn’t have gone back to my original plan and tried again.
In life remember to keep pushing and keep fighting, because no matter how hard things look right now it’s all a part of the plan. ~Simply Cee
